IT support for construction and engineering businesses

Keep office staff, site teams and project partners connected to the information they need.

Your working day

Join up the site and the office

Project information moves between estimators, designers, site managers and external partners. People need to know which drawing, schedule or document is current, while offices and temporary locations can have very different connectivity needs.

Strata Digital can help organise the business IT around those working patterns. We review equipment, accounts, shared information and connections, then plan practical changes around your projects. Specialist design applications and site systems are considered with their respective suppliers.

Practical priorities

Where support can make a difference

Project files people can find

Agree where working documents belong, how they are named and who owns each project workspace. Review Microsoft 365 sharing arrangements to make handovers between office teams and site colleagues more consistent.

Access that changes with the project

Set up a process for staff, contractors and project partners to receive appropriate access. Include clear end dates and reviews so that permissions can be removed when a project or appointment finishes.

Equipment for different working locations

Review the laptops, mobiles and connections used across offices and sites. Account for application requirements, available connectivity and replacement needs before equipment is purchased or a location opens.

A practical handover at project close

Decide which information needs to be retained, who will own it and how it can be recovered. Connect project close-out with account changes, equipment returns and updated IT documentation.

Planning a change

Setting up the next project team

Before a new project begins, decide how office staff, site colleagues and external contributors will exchange information. Agree the shared workspace, its owner and the process for approving access. Check whether the planned devices and connections can support the applications people need at each location. We can help coordinate those business IT requirements and document the handover. Include the end of the project in the plan too: equipment returns, account changes and the ownership of the final project record.

A useful first conversation

Make the priorities clear

Choose one typical project and map how information travels between your office, site and external partners. This gives a useful starting point for reviewing access, document management and support gaps.

Discuss your IT requirements
  • Where do different versions of project documents cause confusion?
  • How are temporary users and locations added and removed?
  • Which design applications or site systems need supplier involvement?

Questions about your IT

Something else on your mind?

Talk to us
Can you help staff access project information from site?

We can review the devices, connectivity and access controls involved, then agree a workable setup. The right approach depends on the location, the information being shared and the applications your team uses.

Can you help with CAD or other engineering applications?

We can review workstation requirements and the surrounding IT environment with your application supplier. Product configuration, specialist troubleshooting and licensing responsibilities need to be agreed for the applications concerned.

Can external contractors use shared project spaces?

We can help plan guest access and ownership in Microsoft 365 where suitable. Access should reflect each person’s role and have a clear review or removal process when their involvement ends.
